From the solo exhibition "The Pocket Horizon," "Golden Rims" is an original exploration of metallic light and reflections within the signature "Mini Plein Air" format.
While the subject is a vintage bicycle, the true focus of this piece is the interaction of light with polished surfaces. The artist uses this composition as a technical exercise in capturing high-contrast reflections, rendering the chrome handlebars and mustard-yellow frame with a shimmering, jewel-like effect. The result balances sharp metallic highlights with a soft, painterly atmosphere.
As with all pieces in the Pocket Horizon series, the artwork is a self-contained story: the bottom of the tin preserves the actual palette used to create the piece, documenting the color mixes required to achieve those glowing metallic tones.
Why it’s special:
-
Exhibition Piece: An official selection from The Pocket Horizon show.
-
Study of Light: A technical focus on metallic textures and "jewel-like" reflections.
-
Process Preserved: The bottom of the tin retains the original mixing palette, sealed to dry alongside the finished work.
